The Gripsholm (17,993 grt, 573 ft. long) was delivered in 1925.
She operated between
Gothenburg and New York (except for WW2 service for the
International Red Cross) for thirty
years until sold to the North German Lloyd in 1955.
She was renamed Berlin
and sailed between Bremerhaven and New York until sold to breakers in 1966.
(If you compare the
photos of the Gripsholm and the Berlin you will notice that the liner was rebuilt
at one stage,
having received a lengthened forepart and new funnels among other alterations.)
