To Typaldos Lines.

The Athinai (9,237 grt in 1967, 508 ft. long) was originally built in 1932 as the Santa Rosa
of the Grace Line. She had three sisters, of which only one survived WW2 - the Santa Paula.
When the two sisters were replaced by two new ships of the same names in 1958,
they were acquired by Typaldos and renamed Athinai and Acropolis respectively.
After the loss of one of Typaldos' ships (Herakleion) in 1966 the company was disbanded
and the former Santa Rosa was laid up until finally broken up in 1989.

The Simplon Postcards website has a page on the history of the Grace Line with photos of the Santa Rosa/Athinai.

Derek Walker's website All at Sea has a page with an indepth history of the Santa Rosa and her sister as Grace liners and after.

You may use my images on another website.
Then please credit them as being from the collection of Björn Larsson,
and preferably provide a link to my Introduction page.
Thank you!
