Books

For many years, Robert Hale Ltd., London, published Guide Books annually for the
convenience of Union-Castle Line's passengers - and later, no doubt,
also to the benefit of the many airborne visitors to East and South Africa.
I found these with my local bookseller in 1966. They are packed with information
- the Year Book and Guide to East Africa has 300+ pages and the equivalent to Southern Africa
has 700+ pages, and in addition each has a comprehensive index and lots of pages with advertisements.
Maps of the regions came as inserts. Both have title pages saying:
"Edited annually by A. Gordon-Brown, F.R.G.S., F.R.Hist.S. for the Union-Castle Mail Steamship Company"
