Vikinglinjen
(Rederi Ab Vikinglinjen)

Åland (Finland)

Rederi Ab Vikinglinjen started operations between Åland and Sweden in 1959.
It changed its name to Rederi Ab Solstad (owned by Rederi Ab Sally) in 1966. The same year Solstad (Sally),
together with Rederi Ab Ålandsfärjan and Rederi AB Slite of Sweden founded the marketing company
Vikinglinjen (Viking Line). Rederi Ab Sally was forced out of the partnership in 1987, after it had been bought
by Viking Line's main rival, Silja Line. In 1993, Viking Line became wholly-owned by SF Line
(the former Ålandsfärjan), which changed its name to Viking Line in 1995.
