This page lists a selection of passenger ship services which were discontinued in the years immediately prior to 1971.

When the Suez Canal was closed between June 1967 and June 1975 following the Six-Day War, some services became inoperable. Others were rerouted (like P&O's) around the Cape or through the Panama Canal, and ports in the Mediterranean, Red Sea, India and Ceylon had to be cut from existing itineraries.

The information is based on the May 1967 issue of the ABC Shipping Guide.
