Aerlínte Éireann was formed in 1947 to operate transatlantic services. These were supposed to have started in 1948, but were postponed for ten years, with first flights in April 1958. Timetables were issued jointly with Aer Lingus from 1958 until the late 1970s, though Aerlínte Éireann's name was only shown on a few U.S. edition covers in 1958.
