Alaska Coastal Airlines was formed in 1939 through a merger between Alaska Air Transport and Marine Airways. The airline operated a network in southeastern Alaska. Alaska Coastal merged with another airline in the same region, Ellis Air Lines, in April 1962. The combined airline traded for a few years as Alaska Coastal-Ellis Airlines. Alaska Coastal was eventually taken over by Alaska Airlines in April 1968.
